Deadline approaches to claim Jubilee Street Party cash
Groups or individuals planning to hold a street party in Breckland this year to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee have up to 31stJanuary to apply for funding.
To help residents celebrate this special occasion, Breckland Council has created a one-off funding pot offering grants of up to £100. Applicants must have the support of their local Breckland Council ward member to act as their referee.
Funding can cover items such as
One-off insurance costs related to putting on a street party
Road closure costs
Purchase of a Temporary Event Notice
Face painting / street party activities
Equipment hire
Marketing and promotion costs
Materials directly related to the street party costs
Lynda Turner, Breckland Council Executive Member for Localism, Communities and Environmental Services said; “Street parties are a great opportunity for everyone to meet up with their neighbours in a real community event. Breckland is running a number of initiatives to support groups and individuals who would like to organise a street party in their neighbourhood. As well as offering funding, the Council is running a series of workshops and we have also created a free ‘Street Party Toolkit’, packed full of useful information and advice”.
Details of the two remaining Street Party Workshops are as follows:
